La'Shay "Shay" Kinsler

The Shay2U Scholarship Foundation (S2USF) was founded in January 2025 in honor and memory of La’Shay "Shay" Kinsler.

La’Shay, affectionately known as “Shay,” was a 17-year-old senior at Alfred Ely Beach High School located in Savannah, Georgia, where she was number twelve (12) in her senior class, a scholar-athlete, and aspired to attend Spelman College to study Psychology. Shay was an amazing, loving, devoted daughter, granddaughter, niece, sister, student, and friend. Her heart was as big as the sky, and her smile lit up the world.

In August 2024, Shay’s life was cut short due to suicide without any sign or warning, impacting her family, school, and community at large. Her death was an eye-opening experience that shed light on the inner silent struggles that teenagers mask, the mental anguish they hide, and the insurmountable burden they carry as they navigate their lives in hopes of being the best that they can be without asking for help.

The Shay2U Scholarship Foundation (S2USF) is dedicated to assisting adolescents, pre-teens, teens, and young adults with the resources needed to overcome the challenges of peer pressure, abandonment, low self-esteem, fear, loneliness, not fitting in, mental health, and other issues that plague their existence.
